It can be very easy to cut the quick, especially if your dog is one whose quick is always closer to the end, like our Wylie. We brought Wylie to 3 different groomers when he was a pup, and all 3 cut his quick...he was totally traumatized by it. After the 3rd time, we've never used a groomer again - for any of our 4. We only trust ourselves to do it the way we want our babies treated.
To this day, btw, 10 years later - Wylie is totally terrified of having his nails trimmed...it can really leave lasting and traumatizing memories bc it's painful.
I would either groom yourself and/or just always remind your groomer that your kiddo's quick has been cut before and that they need to be very cautious. And yes, I'd prefer I was told if a groomer cut my kiddo's quick.
