It's sad that we have to be so worried about encountering strangers.
My same daughter that broke her elbow in three places, also got a flat tire on the way back to college. She was on a somewhat remote freeway on the opposite side of the state (3 hours from home) stranded. A rough looking (she called him a "biker dude") stopped to help her. So she stayed on the phone with me the whole time. The guy took her tire 3 miles up the freeway to the next exit to a gas station, fixed her tire, and brought it back and put it on for her. He said he hoped someone would do the same for his daughter.
I think there are more good people than bad in the world, but those few horrible ones ruin it and make us paranoid.
The only strangers I really cant stand are the Jehovah's witnesses, salesmen, and politicians, that blatantly ignore my no soliciting signs and show up on my doorstep. I refuse to answer the door to anyone I've not invited over or am expecting. There should be a law against anyone coming to your home uninvited!
