I agree, both the original and the Snopes are good advice. I also agree with being aware of surroundings. It's easy for me to be preoccupied, and I've had a false sense of security being a tall woman, less likely a target. However, I've had a few encounters with people with not-so-good intentions.

Also freaks me out that I've had people slip things into my purse, religious pamphlets and other literature. I keep my purse closed and in front of me now.
