Suggestions:
1. Crate him at nite. Inside Izzie's crate I put in a small alarm clock that ticks and a soft sweatshirt of mine. I put her in the farthest place in the house so I could get a good nite sleep. Other folks have put the crate by the bed and can calm the puppy with their voice.
My Izzie has slept through everynite and feels very safe in there. Now I put her to bed in the crate at 9:00pm and let her out about 8:00am. And she poops and pees outside immediately upon release!

2. During the day, I would put her in an excercise pen, helps to at least know WHERE she was peeing/pooping. If she whined or barked, I banged on an empty can with a spoon. Had spoons and cans stationed several places throughout the house for a quick response. Within two days, she stopped. She associated the banging with her whining and barking. Because she loves to sniff and explore, I never knew if she was looking for a place to potty or having fun. Drove us crazy, we were constantly on high alert. So using the ex pen for us worked great. The only time she was out, was if we were playing and having fun with her, or taking her outside.

Now she is 7 months (got her at 4), she is totally potty trained, and because I left her in the pen periodically, and proved to her I would always come back. She does not have separation anxiety. Don't get me wrong, she still hates the pen, and being without me, but she has learned that it happens and she will survive.

I want her to fit into my lifestyle. She has adapted beautifully. Now she is rarely in the pen. We have learned from her and she from us.

I can't tell you how happy I am with my Yorkie/Poo. It takes time, it is like having a baby, ooooh the responsibility, and the pleasure. This has been my first puppy, and I am retired! Izzie is so much fun that it makes up for the times she doesn't do what I want her to.

She now can come when called (if there is nothing distracting her, we are still working on this), she sits, and will stand on hind legs on command. We are working on new tricks everyday. She is so smart. My husband I laugh everyday enjoying her antics and darling personality. Life is good.
