I have had a dog with kidney issues, but not Cushings. At the time, we "hoped" Cushings could explain away some of the symptoms and did a lot of research and had our dog tested. The test for Cushings is non-invasive. The vet will draw blood, then inject your dog with a tiny dose of steroid, wait several hours and draw blood again, and then again several hours after that. We lived close enough to be able to take our dog back and forth for the blood draws so he did not have to spend the day at the vet's office. Cushings is not curable but it is very treatable, and treatment could alleviate some or all of your dog's symptoms, and treatment could also help the kidneys.
