I find myself switching them out, Pixie and Midget half the day, Pokey the other half. If she's freaking out because they are playing Derby Day (you guys know what I mean, when they pretend to be greyhounds and zip all over the house), then Pokey gets crated, and then she is OK. If she is freaking out because they are picking on her, then THEY get crated, and then she is OK.
Annddd, I just realized, I am the one that has the bigger issue with her being crated. She's just fine with it and will fuss to be let out if she has to potty. It upsets ME to have to crate her for her own peace of mind, than it does HER who has to be crated. She's fine with it, and even relieved. But I don't like crating dogs, even if I see the necessity of it, so crating her upsets me.
I have had a bit of an epiphany here. I'm still not 100% sure what I am going to do. But you can believe whatever it is, it is going to be in her best interests. As much as I like this tyke, I believe in doing the best for your animals, they need us to be their advocates, to do what is right for them even if it's not what we might want to do or something we might think silly that the dog should get over.
I am going to talk with my trainer. I'm going to see if there is something we can do to make her more comfortable with my other dogs and see if there is something I can do about Pixie and Midget. They are otherwise well behaved dogs, but it's like they know they can push that button.
Pepsi is the youngest, smallest and also the nicest, Fluffa doesn't care, she's the happy dog, and Sabre is a perfect gentleman, but she still wants nothing to do with them, unless it's bed time. Then of course she wants her place on the bed too, even if it means sharing with THOSE... THINGS... lolol.
It looks like though, she will be having more crate time, and so will Sabre, because it looks like she is coming in heat, and because of that, no way those two will be allowed loose at the same time. *sigh*
If it's not one thing, it's something else.
That sounds like a great idea. I hope you and the trainer can come up with something. I can tell that you love this little one so much that you want to try everything to make it work out. You have the baby's well being and happiness as your first priority and that is so admirable.
