Well, Ali is home. It is wonderful having her back but we have a long road ahead of us. I think the whole experience has traumatized her. She cried nonstop when we picked her up. (more guilt) She had the cone on her to prevent chewing on her splint but I removed the cone. I can't cuddle with her with a stupid cone on. I keep her attached to me via harness and leash 24/7 so I stop any chewing attempts. Good thing we are retired!
Lots of follow up appointments ahead, first one in 4 days. She whimpers a lot, breaks my heart. She has pain meds and antibiotics.
Yes, we have a stroller that we had for our Shelby who was allergic to bee stings AND hated walking. Today we took a short walk, I carried Ali. It was good for her to get out, seemed to cheer her up. Me too.
This is hard but we will manage. I am thankful she didn't fall on her head. I love this little dog so much, she made me smile again after losing my Shelby. |
