I began using a small soft pet crate because I was afraid I would roll over on him when sleeping - well none of us got any sleep because he whined, even when I placed it right next to me with my hand inside. So threw out that idea quickly and taught him to sleep by my head. He's a year old now and still shares my pillow with me. I don't think it's because he misses his siblings because all he wanted was me. I also got mine at 8 weeks. I don't have any kids at home, I work from my house, and he was my second Yorkie. His mother (like many do) stopped feeding him at 6 weeks. Just remember he's a baby and shouldn't be dragged around, woken up just to show him off, and kept on a feeding schedule and given plenty of time to rest. Good luck and I do think the suggestion about the playpen would be a good idea.
