I use a real ham bone. So here we go:
1lb of split peas rinsed - I use 50/50 yellow and green
One medium onion diced
Three large carrots sliced
4 cloves of garlic minced
1 lb of potatoes diced
1.5 tsp of Tumeric
SAlt and pepper
3cups of vegetable stock
2 cups of water
I saute the onions and garlic first, then add spices to saute and then the carrots.
Then add all the liquids and rest of veges - Takes about 2 hrs to cook.
Sometimes I add extra ham as well.
After cooked I blend everything up in blender - or you can keep whole if you like. Serve with French Bread. If you need to *thin* the mixture just add more water
