It does depend on the bitch..some go much longer between heats then 6 months...a bitch who comes into heat every six months will be ready to rebred 4 months after the litter is whelped. You count from heat to heat, not from the time they had the litter...so that means your bitch may have had a litter and in 4 months she is being rebred. Mine go longer between heats..8 to 12 months..so they have had a full 6 plus months rest.
I do not breed twice in a row after a section or a large litter from a smaller girl.
The AKC needs to follow the lead of the Canadian KC...CanKC will tell you how many times a bitch has been bred, number of pups..that is good when buying a bitch for breeding.
