I love that mirror too! It was a score years ago at Ross, like $25. I somehow *knew* you were going to love that mirror .
They make spray paint that has texture. I tried the hammered one. It's not super texturey but more than regular spray paint. I would suggest to spray a primer first, and your base color, sealer, then the top color. Similar to how I did my door knob. If you don't put sealer between the layers, both layers of paint will come off when you sand it. Then seal it again when you are totally done.
