A Puppys’ Thoughts

I did not know till your heart touched mine,
That you were my reason for being,
As a young babe, I saw my Mom with her human,
And those human hands smelt of Mom and me and my packmates,
I didn’t understand why, but they felt of love and care
But over the weeks as my eyes opened and my legs walked,
I saw more and more, how Moms’ very being would light up
When this human Mom entered our room.
And I wondered why,
And now I know
For you see I met you today
Don’t know if it was sunny or cloudy
But I remember feeling safe in your hands
And my heart smelt yours!
And then I just knew
I was born to love you!
