Yes, it's normal. Since birth, he has always had company with his Momma and littermates, so it's shocking and scary for him to be alone. I'd put some stuffed animals with him, including one that is larger like his Momma was. You might also want to see if it helps to have the fenced off area in your bedroom, that might calm him down...
