My ZoE is the pukiest dog I've ever had. Her vet suggested the 1/4 pepcid each evening as treatment as well. I was leery about giving her daily meds, so experimented with feeding times. Now we've got a schedule down and we stick to it. That means that even on my weekends and days off, I'm still up feeding her ar 6:30ish. It works for us. (Weird thing I notice is adding warm water to her late night kibble feeding and letting it sit for a minute to absorb some of the water, really extends the length of time she can sleep in, in the morning.)

If the strict schedule feeding stop working in the future, I'll use pepcid.
