I just took obedience classes with my 3 y/o 12 pounder, I used his harness. With all the pulling and lunging my boy did,my trainer never told me to hook leash to his collar, nor would I had if she told me to. If she told me it would not have any affect on my yorkie,I would have found another trainer. Do not hook leash to collar, use harness only. I had a dog (now past) that was walked with leash to collar, she was a puller, this was years ago, I was never told to use harness only on these small breeds, I never heard of CT. She was 5 y/o coughing, coughing, I thought it was the start of a heart condition, vet said it was CT. From that day forward all my dogs went on harnesses. I use a collar only for tags & his micro-chip ID.
