Plus, you don't want to give too many green beans or carrots and risk overdoing the fiber in his diet, causing gastro issues. My boys do not digest carrots well at all, so I don't use them. We have had a couple of scary incidents with gas, so I am careful with veggies in general. Every dog is different though.
I am very strict when it comes to foods. Cody only eats kibble, no table food, I was rewarding him with kibbles and giving him less at meal time. He eats at 7AM, at 12 noon I was giving him 4 or 5 cut beans, then eats at 5PM, a unlimited ingredients treat at 9PM and that's it. When I started this roll over training I started with the kibble, then switched over to the cut beans a few days ago. Yesterday I started with the fresh raw carrot, just small peice, that he chewed, the cut beans he swallows, no chewing. I was concerned about to much fiber food, but didn't know that can cause gastro issues. I check his poop all the time, for firmness, moisture, worms. I will try french cut beans next week see how that woks, His stool is firm with the cut beans, just was passing a full bean seed. I'll continue the carrots for now, I guess if he starts to pass excessive gas is an indication all veggies should be stopped.
