An x-ray is the best way to figure out how far along she is and if there could possibly be complications due to size of the pups. Please do not wait until it is too late, there are so many things that could go wrong.
I would also suggest that you get on line and do research on what to expect during a whelp and afterwards for both mother and pups. You need to prepare yourself for this upcoming litter and on how to give momma the proper pre-whelp care and aftercare. Deb Jenkins has a website that should be very helpful.
