You have to be careful because diapers, onesies, or belly bands will not keep them from mating. I have heard of them mating through crates as well. They should not even be together when your watching. If you have kids make sure they know. Do not take her for walks. You have to wait a certain amount of time before you can spay her after a heat so I would just go ahead and get the male fixed. I know breeders do it but it almost seems cruel to have an unfixed male in a house with a female in heat if your not going to breed them.
