Some of my yorkies have had cottony coats also and my newest baby girl seems to have it too! I know how you feel I used to be a groomer many years ago and really have just found a product that's helped with my babies. Not sure what others might think about it but my little girl was always matting terrible she was one tiny cotton ball. Everyday I was challenged with getting the mats out! I finally tried Johnson's no more tangles using it first on dry hair. I sprayed the area that was matted and worked the Mat with my fingers. It did great because I wasn't pulling her hair it smells clean and softened the coat and helps give shine. After their bath and I towel dried them I spray the Johnson conditioner on the coat work through the coat. I then blow dry and brush. I felt if it was safe for infants and if used carefully would be helpful with my fur babies too!
