Wow, what a great experience. Sounds like the guy had a great job. I loved watching Davy Crockett on TV with my much younger brother, my son even watched reruns of that show and loved it, too, and Fess Parker was just right for the role. He was a fun actor in any movie and as far as I remember, never played a bad guy. Good to know he was one in real life, too. I remember coon skin caps, playing Cowboys and Indians as a kid!
