The reason many vets suggest SD is both bc they sell it (they don't make much $ off of it though, truthfully) and bc it's often one of the few foods they learned about in vet school...which creates an early relationship w/ the company while in vet school. Some people don't like that vets are influenced by SD during school - and I can understand this concern. The real problem though is that vets receive almost no real thorough nutrition education during school which is just incredibly naive and unfortunate.

There are many, many doggies here who do wonderfully on SD!!! LadyJane can certainly attest to this as she is in rescue and has fed wayyyy more dogs than most of us ever will feed in our entire lives
