I am going to share something that not all vets are aware of...specialists are, but I can tell you that my vet was stunned by what happened to my pup. My Teddy Bear had a shunt that was not diagnosed until he was about 8. I had him for 7 years and he seemed perfectly healthy. I had blood work on him every year during his annual and nothing was ever out of the normal range. He suddenly one night got sick and ended up hospitalized with bladder stones..and they found a shunt! This actually is very common...more than people realize! It all depends on how much blood flow is going through the liver. The specialist told me they often see this in adult pups.

BATs are easy to do and very inexpensive (around $80) . With this breeder, and your recent experience, I would highly recommend it.
