You should give it a try, you wouldn't have to buy an expensive camera but get lots of advise before you buy. Google is always your friend. I like mine because it fits in my purse and still takes pretty good pics. Canon and Nikon are concerned the best for those that are NOT professional and both have a large range of capabilities and prices.

My Panasonic was given to me when my friend was getting all new equipment and I love it. Although I took some classes, I don't begin to get the light correctly. Some times all I do is delete. My teacher said it will take 200 shots to get one good one and he is about right.
