It could very well be separation anxiety. When I have errands I try to do them all at once instead of coming home and going out again. Oh boy do they get pissed. I work from home also. Toto is my rescue boy and was not totally potty trained when we got him. Still isn't to be honest. I have to take him out. If I don't he doesn't tell me he needs to go. That is what I call totally potty trained. Uni is totally potty trained. When she needs to go she will come bark at me to tell me.
Toto likes his crate also. Sometimes when I don't see him near me I go to his crate and he is hanging out in there, most times in the dark LOL. It's a fairly large crate. At the far end I have his bed and some blankies. Towards the door is a pee pad. When we are gone I put him in there bc I don't trust him wandering the house unattended. Uni has free reign of the house. He knows to go pee on the pad. But I'm not gone for so long he needs to poop. I think bc she's been pretty good, it must have been the multiple times you left the house and she got mad.
Keep doing what you're doing. I don't see anything that I could offer advice on to improve it. I mean, you take her out also and she goes? Just keep doing that.
