It's a wonderful idea as long as the dog's psyches eventually mesh; otherwise, you could have some problems with the dogs always vying for leadership/alpha/dominance in their pack hierarchy, requiring you to step forth as a strong but gentle leader - and it can get very old. Most dogs, however, delight in having (an)other dog(s) in the home and truly love and enjoy having a buddy or two by their side to get help them get through domesticated life within 4 walls without much to stimulate them on a daily basis.
