Default Matts, always matts!

All summer long, I kept Teddy in a short cut as it is no secret that I hate his cottony coat. (God, do I hate his coat).

But, now that winter is upon us, I have allowed his coat to grow out as he takes a chill easily. Additionally, I have never clothed him and I'm hesitant to because of matts!

I comb him every other day with a comb and a brush and yet I still find matts as I pet him the same day or the next!

It drives me insane!!!! I have taken to shaving them out but could I ask if any of you have any advice for me? I know his harness may cause some matting but he only wears that every other day and the matts are on his legs where the harness doesn't go.

I don't use conditioner on him so is this causing a problem?

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated and many thanks in advance!
