Mia was in her heat cycle already because she was in her changing stages. Yesterday, unexpectedly she got her menstruation and I wasnt ready for it . I was actually in the process of getting a urine sample from to test for uti as her vulva was very swollen , red/irritated. My questions are am I able to still get urine sample or not due to her period? Am I suppose to bathe the area because of dry blood? .Currently she has a babys diaper till I go out today to buy her dog diapers. She continues to try to take it off , but I dont want her to lick herself anymore to irritate her vulva and also stain my belongings at home as she already has.

She was going to get spayed as I do not want to breed her but the heat cycle beat me to it. She is 10 months old now 6.25lb yorkie. How do I go about handling this situation? What are my precautions and steps. Im certainly a newbie.
