Has anyone used an ice cream machine?


My MIL gave me one (YAY) and I want to make cinnamon ice cream for Xmas but I am a bit intimidated about the ice cream prep BEFORE it goes into the machine.


Also, I'm not familiar with the phrases "custard" ice cream, for example, so what is "normal" ice cream called?


Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!!!!!!!
