You have to always make sure to ask if there is over night staff because at most there is not and they will leave the animals for several hours alone. Generally though unless it's a special case or there were complications it's not necessary for them to be kept over night for a regular spay and they are normally happier and comfortable at home. Mine had to stay over night twice each for a knee surgery and I refused to come home without her until I just couldn't keep my eyes open. Both times they called me to pick her up earlier then normal because she would not drink, eat or go potty for them. They got concerned.
