Rethinking the phobia thing, I think my all time worst fear is public speaking or speaking in front of groups. I absolutely fear it so so much and according to the definition, will absolutely avoid it if I can.
Oh lordie yes, public speaking!! Most people fear it more than death! I get the worst butterflies. Did you know that for stage fright many people/actors will take 10-20mg of Inderal (a beta blocker) - and it the fear is just absent then? Very cool. I've used it before and it's utterly amazing how your stage fright goes away. It prevents that fight-or-flight syndrome from being able to occur.
