No weight in the passenger seat should not turn off
all of the airbags in your car. That would not make any sense if you are traveling alone. Forgive me if I am misreading your post.
It is a good thing for the airbags to be turned off on the dog's side of the car. I believe airbags would do more harm to the dog than potential good for many reasons.
