saved a litter of great danes with pedialyte Years back I raised great danes (one extreme to now Yorkies) a buyer brought back a puppy after 3 or 4 weeks saying it must be homesick. I wasn't home, but my husband put the puppy with 5 others we still had. I new immediately the dog had parvo. He was skin and bones. I did take all the dogs to the vet and ended up euthanizing the puppy and giving all the others their 2nd shot and bleaching the entire yard and throwing away everything I could. The remaining puppies came down with parvo and I immediately started force feeding with a baby bulb nasal aspirator Pedialyte every hour around the clock after about a week I was throwing bread to the ducks and the puppies started eating it - when a dog has parvo he will literally run from food and water (even steak). All the puppies survived and went on to be healthy. |
