When a dog is matted that bad, the only thing that can be done is too have them shaved. Your puppy might have a soft coat and if she does, it will matt all the time, if not brushed everday. My Bell who is 3 now. Went swimming in our pond last week when I was in bed recooperating from my gall bladder removal. If I had known about it right after it happened I would have been able to give her a bath and removed all her small matts. Since I didn't really notice her condition until 3 days later, I had to shave her almost completly! She now looks like a lion, as her hair on her body is about 1/2 inch and then she still has her hair on her head!! Good luck what ever you decide to do!
