Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I had a similar experience to those who posted above: quiet puppies who developed big barks much later.

There are many different methods for training to bark/growl when appropriate and when to stay quiet. Socializing is the first step. Some people recommend training to "speak" as a necessary step to learn "quiet."

Max often barks when he is excited to see a dog. He doesn't quit until he can get close and greet the dog. Training in this department can be tough with a Yorkie.
