I would give it a little while longer because kennel cough can take a while. But if it does not improve you might want to check to see if it is a trachea issue. I have a puppy that does a real fast hack that last a second, sometimes when playing but he will do it like once a day but has done it pretty much every day since I had him (3 months now).
