There's a good handful of good companies. I personally use and prefer Wellness. But many like Royal Canin, Stella & Chewy, Blue Buffalo, Blue Wilderness, etc. I'm sure other will give you more names that you can choose from. I decided on Wellness after reading through Dog Food Reviews and Ratings | Dog Food Advisor
That would be a good site to check on as it'll break down and talk about some of the ingredients and so on.
I would make treats on and off for my furbabies and there are lots of good recipes out there, but if the dog has special needs it's best to talk to a vet or pet nutritionist.
