I taught Teddy to bark by making my hand in the shape of a sock puppet, if that makes sense, and snapping it at him and saying, "SPEAK, RUFF"! And, funny as it sounds, that's how he was taught and that was the very first command he learned at 13 weeks old..ha.


Then, to teach him "QUIET", I would say, "SPEAK" and he'd bark and immediately after I'd say "QUIET" and whilst he was trying to register that command, I'd stuff a treat in his face.


He now understands quiet and it works as well as any command will for a stubborn yorkie
