My pup has a soft duck and the moment I sit down he runs off crazy to find it and appears at my feet, he will sit up all straight with it in his mouth, then he will start trying to throw it up at me lol, when I can't play I tell him, "I see you with your toy, go play and I'll play later". Initially when I started saying this to him he would just persist but I continued (feeling guilty) and now he is great , will go play until I call him. It takes time and it's repetitive but it works.
