Going from memory, the glands manufacture a oil that is released as stool is passed to help passing of the stool. It has an odor. Sometimes I think Rusty has 'pooted' and that is the smell. Usually if I smell his little poot, he will soon run for his pee pads as he has to 'make some brick'.....LOL
