I have two of these and love them. They do have a bar at the bottom but so far it's not been an issue. (I'm clumsy) you can buy extensions for really wide openings. Amazon.com : Munchkin Wood and Steel Designer...Amazon.com : Munchkin Wood and Steel Designer...
