I hope you are using a good secure harness when you are moving around with her? That is the first thing to take care of. A good harness will give you better control over the dog. Yorkies do not have the muscle around the neck and trachea area to protect sensitive parts that can be injured with a regular collar.

It is sad that this little girl has not had proper training. At her age she should be past all this. Just remember it is not her fault that no one bothered to teach her what she needs to know. In her world everything is as it should be.

If you take her out at regular intervals throughout the day she will learn that going out is for pottying. Just remember to reward her highly when she goes in the proper place. You may want to look at your local pet supply store for a bag of LITTLE all natural meat treats to carry in your pocket when you take her out. When she goes potty praise her and give her a treat. Dogs love to be rewarded and learn much more quickly when they have a motivation to learn.

Going out at the same times everyday sets up a routine for her and she will learn the schedule and actually remind you that it is time to go.

I am so glad you are taking an interest in solving the problem rather than just complaining and punishing as many frustrated people do.
