I know a little something something about medications. Not much on how they are for dogs, but for humans and I'm sure some of the side effects are similar. Rimadyl is an anti-inflammatory medication similar to ibuprofen/advil/motrin for humans. It's the wrong medication to be giving someone who doesn't eat because it can erode the lining of the stomach and should always be given with food. It doesn't cause lethargy in humans but dogs are different and I think rimadyl can make them sleepy. My dog had it after his neuter and I didn't like how it was making him sleepy and I was also concerned he may have had a seizure while taking it. It can cause kidney failure if taken too frequently or if dehydrated. Anti inflammatory meds usually relieve swelling, but if she has a reaction to the medication it could result in certain swelling.
Hope that helps.
