I do have to point out that I specialize in cognitive neuropsychology in HUMANS so the definition of "remembering" is debatable.......

I think the argument that we maim sentient beings on the basis that they may not remember it is, well.....strange. But, I do realize that it is a way to validate certain procedures. Familiarity brings comfort even if it is erroneous.
