Thankfully, breeders do indeed dock their own tails, if they have been breeding long enough. We do the procedure quickly and essentially painlessly, with no bleeding, a better look to the end of the healed tail, and seldom any complications. There was a member here recently that had her vet dock her litter, and one of those little babies cried for at least 24 hours after the tail was docked.....I have done my own tails for years, was taught how to do it by a vet I worked for back in 1966-1970, and I have NEVER had a baby cry for more than 20 -40 seconds during the procedure when the clamp is first applied, never had a baby bleed, never had an infection. I am not the only experienced breeder that can say this....we all have these results.
