I am sorry this happened to you. Do you have a homeowners association that sends out email or printed notices? You could write a little explanation of your baby's medical challenges and include his photo. Assure people (who obviously jump to conclusions) that he has great medical care.
I'm sure the neighbor meant well for your pup, but he/she obviously jumped to conclusions. She should have tried talking to you to learn more.
