It is so very easy for them to get ahold of some piece of something, maybe a pill that was inadvertantly dropped, dig around in your purse and get sugar free gum/mints/etc....I have experienced all of these situations and as a consequence, my house is fenced and crossed fenced! All dogs are confined to the sunroom and kitchen area. No one is allowed to roam around in the other part of the house....dogs are allowed to go with me in my bedroom, but only supervised. No meds are allowed anywhere in the house except in the part of the house where dogs are never allowed...guest bedroom, guest bathrooms, my son's bedroom and bathroom....when we go shopping and buy meds, they go into separate bags and are carried straight from the car to the bathrooms. No purses are allowed in any room where dogs are....my aunt came to visit once and she had heart meds in her purse.....dogs got into her purse and ran to their bed with the Rx bottle...thank God, they didnt get into the pills! Had one get into my purse and get a roll of Life Savers....could have easily been sugar free gum or something else sugar free....so no purses are allowed where dogs are allowed.
I am so happy your baby recovered! These babies are like little bad kids! They move lightening quick and they sneak and hide and enjoy eating what they have collected! You dont even know you have a problem until you hear them choking or find them listlless. |
