Cotton coat is basically fluffier than silky, thus making them look bigger than they are. Though silky coat is preferred, I hear they are slower to grow and may be thinner in density. But certainly less tangly. Most pups are pretty much cottony and you won't be able to know for sure till the coat fully matures which can be about 1-2 years, give or take. I've had a blue/gold and a black/tan growing up and I currently have a black/gold (so far she's going that route, the other two we had were registered on opposite colorings but turned out otherwise, lol) She looks like a black/gold, but that's only comparing to my girl now and that could easily change as well :3
