Sophie Kate who is six years old will chew up items still to do this day. A lot of her chewing comes from her being bored (usually while I am working and she is in my home office with me).

We get around this by giving her specific items that are hers to chew like a Nyla bone and also a lot of exercise (we go for walks a lot and if the weather does not permit it we play fetch with her and a good game of hide and seek).

I am very concerned about your dogs chewing up cords, Sophie Kate did the same thing as a puppy and it scared me so badly. I am not sure how you can control this while you are recovering from surgery other than to keep an eye on them all the time and when they start chewing a cord you need to redirect them.

Good luck and it sounds like you have a lively bunch at your house.
