your puppy is adorable. The way you describe it sounds like a cotton coat to me. my daisy has a cotton coat and it is really easy to manage. I keep it cut short and she never matts or tangles.

there was an interesting thread on here a while back about the color of the eyeshine of the dog determining if it is a silky coat or cotton coat. I don't know how reliable it is but my Daisy has red eye shine like your pup has. Try searching "eyeshine" (not sure if it one word or two) and see if the thread comes up. My phone won't let me do searches.
