Daisy weighed 19 lbs when we first took her in for her liver problems. She has lost 1 pound so far and needs to loose a couple more. She took Denamarin daily for 30 days and then when her liver values were rechecked they were only 10 units above normal. So now she takes Denamarin every other day and is on prescription food. We also put 1/2 crushed Cosaquin on her morning food.
At first she was waking up every night from 2 - 4 am, panting, pacing and whining. I thought it must be pain from her liver. I think the vet thought it was more from her arthritic hip that showed up from an xray. She has had peaceful sleep for about two weeks now but I notice she is walking stiffly at times. I know losing more weight will help with that too.
The vet said her stiff walking is an indicator of pain. It is hard to know if the Tramadol was helping or how much to give her. Should the stiffness go away when the Tramadol is working? We have recently resumed our daily walks, starting off with an easy walk. She is really enjoying her walks and the last couple of days her old spunkyness
and feistyness has returned. She seems full of energy. She is 11 yrs old.
